Bastille Day Picnic with MSSF, 10 am - 3 pm
7/14/2019 - 7/14/2019

Event Description
After the French Revolution, the royal gardens and parks were opened to the public, making picnicking possible for everyone. MSSF has reserved a beautiful bay view picnic site at Point Pinole Regional Shoreline to Celebrate Bastille Day. Two grills will be going, one with mushrooms and one with haute dogs (there are two grills, we will keep the fire going from noon-2 pm). Bring your favorite beverage and a potluck dish. There will be a prize for the best chapeau!

Beer & wine are allowed.
This is a dog and kid friendly park.
Dogs must be on-leash in parking & picnic areas, as well as on paved paths, but the park is very large (>2300 acres) with ample off-leash areas for non-aggressive, voice-controlled canines.
There is a climbing structure suitable for bigger kids near the picnic area.

The Palms picnic area has four 10-ft tables, two extra-large BBQs, one single BBQ, and one drinking fountain with a spigot. It is on the left side of the path and under large shade trees (but don't forget your sunscreen). The picnic site is approximately one-half mile from the parking lot; the paved pathways make it easy to pull a wagon with your picnic supplies. There is a shuttle available on Sundays for a small fee.

Directions: From I-80 Eastbound, exit onto Richmond Parkway/Fitzgerald Dr, and head west (left off the freeway). From the Richmond Parkway, turn right onto Giant Highway and proceed to the park entrance. Coming from Marin, take the very first exit off the bridge (Pt. Richmond), that gets you onto the west end of Richmond Parkway. It's about 5.75 miles from there to Giant Highway, where you will turn left.

Carpools are encouraged, and can be found at: https://www.prepatrip.com/t/bx32rd

[Point Pinole Regional Shoreline has a $3 parking fee, $2/dog fee]
